About Us

General Vision is committed to demonstrate that the CogniMem neural network chip is a unique enabler to design image recognition systems and devices which are powerful, yet practical to implement. Power means a robust pattern recognition engine, adaptive, high-speed, expandable. Practicality means trainability, speed, low-power, small footprint and affordability. We believe that the CogniMem neurons-on-a-chip is a leading technology to address this demand, have started to prove it and hope to convince others.

Objectives

Develop IP leading towards generic image recognition from discrete objects and target identification to surface classification and behavior analysis, and more.
Develop training and validation tools for the deployment of the CogniSight technology
Develop reference design demonstrating the performance and practicality of the hardware implementation
As new methods are validated, migrate them from software simulation to FPGA to ASIC, thus rising at each step the speed performance, and decreasing the size, power consumption and cost of the component.

Background

1987: Established in California, USA (original name was GTFS Inc.)
1989: Distributor of Ultimage, the 1st commercial scientific image processing software for the Macintosh II.
1990: Distributor of Concept VI, the 1st image processing library for LabVIEW (later acquired by National Instruments and now known as the IMAQ Toolkit)
After a decade spent developing fun and challenging applications, we have moved our trajectory from conventional imaging tools towards parallel neural networks and fuzzy pattern recognition.
2003: 1st vendor to deliver a fish inspection system for a Norvegian fleet with neurons inside.
2008: developer of the 1st image recognition chip with one thousand neurons in parallel.
2009: developer of the 1st modular surface inspection system using neurons for high-speed anomaly detection
