The challenge

• Put an image recognition system inside a toy which is reliable, can be battery-operated, does not heat and can be produced at very low cost

A CogniSight MTVS module interfaced with the MP3player-SDcard module from Rogue Robotics.

Images of the objects to recognize are collected in advance with the CogniSight MTVS module. The training of the CogniSight engine is made on a PC system using these images and Image Knowledge Builder.  The image knowledge file (*.ikf) is saved to an SD card which is then plugged into the toy. When the toy is turned on, the ikf file is loaded into the CogniSight FPGA and recognition starts immediately. Recognition of an object triggers the playback of the associated MP3 file stored on the SD card (i.e. the cat, el gato, le chat, die katze).
